Internet -
I've been a huge fan of the
internet since getting online in early 1997. I use the internet to learn
about anything I've always wanted to know about or wanted to learn.
I knew nothing about
designing or publishing web sites when I first came on the net, but
everything I have learnt has come from web sites and people I know
through the internet. This has enabled me to create and publish many web
sites for myself and other people, and my main site (Premier Football
Management), which is now jointly run, could become a professional
business within the next year or so. The site has come on in leaps and
bounds since it opened, and we are now planning to run it as a pay to
play game for managers from all over the world.
Aside from learning how to
create web sites, I've also learnt a number of other things from the
net. If you know where and how to search the net, then there is no end
to what you can learn and teach yourself with just a few hours reading
and researching.
Most
of my friends now come
to me when they need help with computer problems... I don't claim to be
an expert, not by a long shot... but I have learnt enough in recent
years to fix most problems I (Or my friends) have with our PC's. When I
see some people spend £100's of pounds on getting very minor PC
problems fixed, then I'm glad that I have taken the time to learn a the
basics of how a PC works.
Aside from learning about
PC's, I've also learnt the basics of how to fix problems with satellite
dishes, video/DVD recorders and other electrical items. I'm often
baffled as to why some people cannot or will not make the most of being
on the net. A lot of people really do not realise the information and
resources they have at their fingertips... and this is proved to me time
and time again when I get friends and relatives asking me how I find out
certain information. The simple fact is that you just need to know where
to look.
The potential to save money
from the internet is also huge... for starters, I've not once searched
for something to buy on the internet which hasn't been cheaper than it
is to buy on the high street. As the internet grows, it is certainly
harder to find bargains, but it's still possible.
Whilst the internet
continues to grow, and more things are being thought of, then I will
remain hooked.
More to follow...
